FRANCE AND THE SITUATION IN IRAQ
There has been much talk about the situation in Iraq and the present stand taken by France. As far as we in the CSAE are concerned, this does not have any connection with Southern Heritage. I do not consider myself to be enough ‘in the know’ to comment about the International situation with any accuracy, but feel that jibes at the French people are uncalled for. Many Frenchmen risked their freedom and lives by running supplies to the South in the war of '61. The number of French born men who died fighting for Dixie will never be known, but you can be sure the figure must be in thousands. Also, the last surviving CS Major - General was a Frenchman, whose son died as late as 1999.
